your first vw
« on: 17 September 2012, 14:04 »
what was everyones first vw and was is this car that was responsible for your love of vws now?

my first vw was a mk1 golf 1.5GX and I only got it to annoy my then boyfriend because he wasnt old enough to drive but loved them and I had just got my license so thought I would see what all the fuss was about.
I have to say for me it was love at first sight and I really did love that car. I took it to college where everyone else was driving corsas, saxos and fiestas but my little golf in my eyes was the nuts!

Here she is...

Unfortunately the car set on fire :-( dodgy wiring was to blame. It wasnt that bad but as the fire brigade pushed the car onto my driveway for me they scraped it past the gate and unfortunately the whole wheel arch pretty much crumbled off!
I did get the car re-wired but after that it was never the same and it stunk of burning. It was scrapped by the person that bought it off me after the MOT ran out

After that i knew I would always have vws and have gone on to have about 13 mk1 golfs, mk2s, mk3s, polos and a seat cordoba!

My first ever vw was a mk3 tdi, but it was never put on the road so it doesn't count.

This is my first on the road vw, which I bought for £200 for a road rally. GTI 8v. Loved it, and still have it (though it's sat in the yard waiting to be banger raced :D)

1993 GTI 8v 5dr matt black and green - the 'sh!tball rally car'
1997 GTI 8v 3dr metalic black - the daily driver
2002 3DR 1.8T AUM silver - the new daily
1993 Jeep cherokee 4L - the weapon :D

Mine was a mk2 1.4 with some nice GTI body kit.
Next was a mk3 1.8 SE which i did up and put full reiger kit on as i was in my 20s lol

Now iv got a mk4 V5 which at the min i drive like a grandad as its thirsty but im a sucker for big engine golfs.

Been looking at mk1s at min want my GF to pass her test so it gives me an excuse to buy her her 1st car which by accident will be a mk1 :D

WhenI passed my test I was driving a bright orange beetle, was  a great little thing! When that inevitably rusted and I didn't have the skills to keep it on the road I bought my first golf, a jade green 1.8 gl and have been watercooled ever since
