There is something just not right about the red lines on the lights.

They are obviously trying to run the red from the grille to the upper part of the bumper panel. This makes the line look squint to me.

I wonder if running the line parallel along the bottom of the light may have worked?

A video of it at the Paris Motor Show.
They are saying with the limited slip on the new GTI it can go round the Nurburgring 13 seconds faster than the old one?!

Another report from gay Paris by Evo mag: http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/286729/updated_vw_golf_gti_revealed_at_the_paris_motor_show.html

Interesting to hear that there may not be an R in RHD guise thanks to the unpopularity of the model in the UK, as obviously VW are surprised that not many people can afford to blow £35k+ on a shopping car. But I can see their point, obviously 99% of the world is LHD and thus it doesn't matter if they only sell one or two cars in some LHD countries as it doesn't cost any more money in tooling unlike selling a couple of hundred in the UK, Japan and Australia which will never see the profit offset against the engineering costs (assuming there actually are that many costs involved over and above the other RHD models). Either that or they want a big fuss which will provide free advertising which will up the image of the car, a bit like when the mk1 was only introduced in LHD? The mk2 GTI was hugely popular in the UK though and VW couldn't be arsed to make the G60 RHD so it's anybody's guess.

Anyway, back to the GTI; seems like £900 is being mooted which I guess isn't bad for big brakes and the trick diff fully supported by warranty. Unless we get sceptical here too and find out most of the diff features and the extra 10bhp can be conned out of the ECU via VCDS anyway?

Well spotted.
Good riddance too. Never liked it in the mk5 and still don't like it on the two mk6s I've had. Every mk6 I've driven has the same problem, you need to push the pedal down too far to actually get the car to move making it feel very unresponsive. Fine if you only drive one car and get used to it but rubbish if like me you drive all sorts of different vehicles day in and day out. I cured it by fitting a Sprint Booster but that really shouldn't be necessary; a sporty car should drive like a sporty car. Hopefully the Sport Pack in the mk7 will cure this issue once and for all as it is bound to feature a bit of tuning on the electronics to make it feel more sporty.
