I had a quick compare with the MK6 price list and http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/2013-vw-golf-prices-revealed/264034

Prices have gone up or down by £300-£400 BUT trim is different, the lower priced S model looks better value with DAB and iPod and the more expensive GT get electric mirrors.
Now = 2011 MK6 GTI - Reflex Silver
Past = 2006 MK5 GTI - Tornado Red and Solid Black

Pretty disappointed with the weight savings.
Might wait for the Audi S3 and see what spec that comes with / price / any discounts  -just not a fan of the pop up screen

True, the best news is the GT gets Nav which saves you the £1700

True, the best news is the GT gets Nav which saves you the £1700
It's probably only a very basic nav unit like that fitted to the Passat CC or current Leon that incorporates DAB and Bluetooth but doesn't have the big hard drive of the RNS 510
