A couple of years ago i had to leave my golf pirelli with kettering vw for some warranty issues, what i didnt tell that is the car had full telematics. I caught them when i logged into the car's history practically taking the car out for a thrash, i mean within 2 minutes of starting the car it was doing 110mph+ down a dual carriageway! thats 1 example, and i had all this info in black and white!.
When i went in to confront them i obviously asked to speak to the service manager, you should have seen his face it was him that was the culprit! Without going into the outcome, i have now lost all trust with dealerships, now at least when i take my car in i now have to warn them about what i have on the car.

check the milage on the service stamp and the milage on the dash now and you will get an idea of whats gone on

there is no way im leaving my car with them when it goes in next month. im insisting on a specific time for the service and iim waiting for the car after the last time they had it and decided to reverse it into a chair.

You taking yours to Durham mate? I'm going to try there this time as not want to go back to the previous dealer after.last episodes.

As for the miles and mpg I always photograph it when I leave it that way I know what has been done.
To note mine was similar extreme low  mpg the reason they left it idling while plugged in the diagnostics. I was shown another car doing the exact same.

yeah i will be trying durham this time

the times ive needed to go there for parts and to finalise the compensation for a bodged job in their other branch they were very professional and seemed a to take more care of cars/customers.

the parts lad and service desk lad are spot on to deal with and from what ive heard the workshop is run properly so i will use them for my servicing.

It doesn't make it right but it's got to be expected that some stranger driving your car puts their foot down.
P.s my last 2 mk6's when just below 1/4 of tank used to go down really fast as if there was a hole in the tank so maybe if they have had it running when checking over etc could be right.

I take photos of everything, like others. I mean, I go as far as the wheels, general pics of the bodywork to show no damage and so on.

Either way should have some common sense and realise that the fuel is low and not to leave the car running if that was the case. i know he didnt do more that 15miles. leaving the car idol would not of caused it to drink through nearly 1/4 of a tank.

The fact that he told me a story about being pulled over by the police at 109mph in a tuned lupo gti (a customers car) cos the customer said to test the high speed performance makes me believe that he was driving irresponsibly. At the time i thought he was exaggerating the story but know i believe him.

Dealers are generally full of muppets and to be avoided at all costs

Our local Honda dealer wrote off a customers NSX out showing off to one of the apprentice technicians, outrageous behaviour.

Same thing happened to me at Pulman Volkswagen. The Sunderland boys picked up my rattling GTi and brought it back with a kerbed alloy and torn tyre side wall, then accused me if doing it. The Durham boys drained a tank of fuel and gave it back with grime on the steering wheel and food crumbs throughout the car.

dont even talk about pulman sunderland to me.

absolute clowns in there.

my brand new car had a damaged door card, scratched steering column round key hole and scratched headlight. when the headlight was replaced the 'mechanic' decided to leave my front grille sticking out, the bumper was forced on wrong breaking a couple of tabs and leaving the front corner drooping then had the brilliant idea of reversing my car onto an office chair in the middle of the workshop.

luckily i was watching all of this through the showroom window but 2 of the members of staff still called me a liar to my face.

after many arguments, threats of rejecting my 4 day old car and much pain the ass pulman durham made it up to me but sunderland are hopeless.


i fixed the bumper myself as i didnt want them to touch it again.


when the car was brand new the salesman was meant to pick me up and take me to the garage to drive away my new car - last minute i get a phone call saying some pleb was going to drop the car off at my home without asking me. no way i was letting someone drive my brand new car down the A19 not giving a sh!t. he wasnt happy but he sent a driver to pick me up. why arrange something just to back track?


like i said when my car goes in for its service im insisting on waiting for the car so i can see what goes on.

also ive had good customer service from pulman durham so more confident about taking it to them.
