Its not a hard job as long as your good with the spanners, You need to undo the hubnut with a 36mm socket and breaker bar through the wheel with the centre cap off. Car on ground and handbrake on fully, its tight.
Jack the car up and put it on stands, get someone to sit in the car to apply the brakes and undo the spline sockets as you spin the shaft round. Then I always undo the strut to hub bolts to allow the shaft to be withdrawn from the hub and away from the car.
I was just gonna lube mine up with moly grease and see if it helps, I do remember last time I did the outer joint on the nearside shaft that the inner joint was a bit dry grease wise. The inners are sliding joints and if not greased up well can knock like a swine as the shaft moves in and out.
