Dropped the car off at R-Tech
« on: 28 July 2012, 20:59 »
Drove down to Hinckley dropping the car of at R-Tech this time with a slightly different turbo, ported manifold and FMIC. Had a stage II map for over 18 months that has been faultless, pulled very well and surprised a few cars in that time  - which is why I didn't consider taking the car anywhere else.

Spec is:

Borg Warner K04-001
Forge Actuator - Yellow Spring
Milltek 3" Sports Cat DP & 2.5" Non-res cat back
Sachs Clutch & Single Mass Lightweight Flywheel
BAM 3" MAF, Pump & Injectors
Ported Manifold
Forge FMIC
Jetex Induction Cone
Creations TIP & Boost Hoses
PCV delete

Not looking forward to driving the missus's 1.0 3cyl corsa next week and even more nagging about spending far too much money on a sh!tty old golf

1.8T AUQ - 241bhp & 286 ft-lb

Back from R-Tech after a steady drive home with a lot less turbo lag and slightly more torque.

They've done an awesome job and huge credit to them for getting the car ready today. I honestly can't recommend them enough, spot on customer service and can't believe how much better the car is driving, that said am considering trading in the golf for a 1.2 Clio with NOS

It was running around 230bhp & 250 ft-lb before and now has 244bhp & 297ft-lb. Not a huge difference in power and I was hoping for closer to 260 but the sports cat wasn't helping flow at all, that said after going for the test drive changing the k03s just about became justifiable - spool up is immense no matter what gear there's hardly any lag and that increase in torque has made a huge difference, pulls seriously well on the motorway even in 6th gear and holds 22/23psi, all about that mid range torque!

De-cat will be going on before the end of this month. Timing belt is due in March next year so considering getting the rods done, actuator spring changed to blue as advised and WMI kit around then - well impressed by that k03s on meth, 266bhp and had done 180k+ miles.. proper quick!

And a bonus was the trip computer MPG on the way back, not really arsed about fuel economy but rarely ever went beyond 35mpg before so well worth a picture, put almost a full tanks worth in after leaving and its still above half full.

Huge thanks to you all!
