then every mk4 i've done has had a dodgy door lock, which really wouldn't surprise me  b5/b5.5 passats seem to suffer the worst with the door lock faults though for some reason

either way with a correctly cut key and an immo chip capable of being coded (unless its immo2) its a quick job if you already have the skc. if the alarm is going off while you're trying to do this you have issues somewhere other than the key

You can't do that. Without the key being programmed, the immob won't let you in and the alarm will go off as soon as you try - that's what the 'chip' 'programmed key' is for, otherwise people would be stealing cars quite easily like in the old days.

Yes you can I've done it

How do you think I do cluster swaps, the keys aren't coded to the cluster when the ignition is switched on for the first time, all they need to do is turn the ignition on to get power to the cluster and then code them in to the cluster and the CCM.

Also the key "not being coded" has nothing to do with the alarm, all that is in the key is an immobiliser chip this doesn't have any effect on the alarm only the immobiliser

It does, the alarm will go off when a non coded key goes in and turns the barrel. I've coded keys also.

The car doesn't know if the key is coded as the immo chip has nothing to do with the alarm, you can turn the alarm off using a key blade in the ignition to switch the car on with no fob attached

Yes it does.

Not a non coded one you can't, as that'll be what sets the alarm off as soon as you try in the barrel.
