Rat-Look discuss?

The rat look should be kept to campers, beetles, mk1 and 2's at a push if done properly. Mk3's are a no-no imo as they far too new and rounded.

Agreed plus needs to be done to a good standard, half hearted looks even worse.

HERE HERE!!! you can actually buy rust look paint costing £100 that should do the whole care. dw people im not doing it to my car, its doing it on its own LOL no really front wing is falling apart need it fixed asap.

the closest ive seen to that is red oxide..... or in old money red lead......

This old chestnut again? Seriously?  This will be a whole thread of "I don't like it, its w*nk, shiny cars ftw, you can't fake patina" etc etc etc.

I have seen some incredibly imaginative Rat cars in the past (Ratta's Two-Face Scirocco for one), and one of my close friends drives a Mk2 Polo that you would term as Rat look that she has a) put her heart and soul into, and b) it perfectly matches her personality.  The whole "lets just sticker bomb a panel, rust another, kick a few dents into it and wrap some hazard tape on it is NOT what I am on about here.

Its all relative in as much as "its your car, you should do what you want with it".

I think the rat look looks pish poor on any car of any age. Just comes across as scruffy and unloved.

just why would you want to deliberately make you car look old and tatty.
have to admit on old beetles and campers it looks quite good if not over done. and if they dont stick a roof rack on then go through a skip to put sh!t on it.

but as said already newer cars just look like people cant be arssed to mod there car propply but still want respect from other dubbers so now they have a way of doing it. just fcuk the car up. chuck some sh!t on the roof and say its rat look.
and to say people put there heart and soul into it makes me laugh. how hard is it to put some glue on an old vw badge and stick it to the bonnet?
please tell me how most of that took the care and attention to detail that other people do to make there cars look good.
some of us save our pennies for a long time just to get that one nice part at a time to make our cars look good.
but at the same time people just break something or stick something to there car they found in the shed and expect the same respect.

I quite like it if its done properly, not just a rusted bonnet and some us plate stuck in the corner

Isn't the proper way of doing it putting some kind of protective coat on first then just having the top layer rust so its good metal underneath? letting your car rust as normal is just dumb

I have seen some shocking attempts at ratting in the past, but as I say I quite like it when there done properly




although this one might be a little bit too far
