Thank you Jimble. I was blown away when I saw it. It had 113000 miles on the clock and it may as well have been 13000. The previous owner was clearly fastidious as you could see the polish residue when I bought it.
I always wanted a 16v once I'd got the Mk2 bug with the 8v I had so this was a no brainer when I found it. It's kept away in the garage and only comes out in the dry so one day, if or when I eventually sell it, someone will get a real nice car.
I wish I had a picture of the underside by the way - you could eat your dinner off it it's that clean. Still, there's always stuff to do so I'm replacing odds and sods as I go along to improve it further.

Any excuse for some pic whoring...

I know there's not much love for Mk3s in here...but I don't care. My 20th Anniversary Edition 16v...one of 150 RHD cars.

Ess3 dare I say it, but I prefer your Mk3 very very nice motor indeed

Tiguan quicker than the Golf

I spotted a mint Mk3 Anniversary at a dealer before I got the Mk2s but he was wanting £6995 for it!!! It had only done 40 odd thousand miles and was genuinely immaculate - I just couldn't afford it though. Very jealous of the guy/girl who did buy it.

When I had MK2, 3, 4 & 5 I loved them all at the time and none were bad at all even 3&4 which appear to be the models that were unpopular with the motoring press, however over time the MK I love the most is the MK2. There is a really nice G plate big bumper round the corner from me and it still looks great.
Current: GTI Edition 35 Candy White 5dr DSG 19" Glendale, RCD510+DAB, Dynaudio, Storage Pack, Parking Sensors

Gone: Edition 35, GTI Mk6, Edition 30, GTI Mk4, GTI Mk3, GTI Mk2 and my favourite the UR quattro
For those that dont know DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox
