German cousins re-united
« on: 27 May 2012, 14:43 »
The prelude to this post is an apology, purely because this is a chance to show off my two favourite GTi's side by side!

In 2002 I sold my MK2 8v Alpine White Big Bumper to a yound guy that lived around the corner. After I sold it Craig would call in regularly which was great because he always kept her really clean etc . Then after a while I noticed that he hadn't been around for a while and after bumping into him in town he told me that he'd sold her and bought a Fiesta RS 1800 project car - sacrilege  This was about a year ago so cest la vie etc etc. Then about a month ago I heard a lovely exhaust note coming from outside the house, which is odd because we live on a really quiet cul-de-sac surrounded by blue rinses - I looked out and to my amazement it was my old MK2

Craig had sold the the RS and gone to market to find a nother MK2, only to find that they guy that had bought her off him was selling her. Craig did the deal and called around as he knew i've a smile on my face. To that end i've told him i want first refusal if he has the silly idea of changing her again.

I hope you enjoy the pictures and the story as much as I enjoy shaing it:-

Is the Mk2 original? Or had work?

He's done a few tweaks, including lowering, stainless exhaust, headlight mod but other than that it's as clean as the day I sold it him. That's why I was so wounded when he sold it. It's got a couple of old age spots on it and I believe he's looking at getting those done. The interior is mint too with no wear really, it's an 8v run out model so it's got the 16v spec:- rainbow interior, tinted windows and sliding metal roof.

It's a beautiful motor and even the mrs says we should have it when he thinks of selling it!
