Well it would be rude not to join in the fun here. These two beauties are mine and I'm very proud of them

MK2 16v

Mk6

They're both completely standard although the remap urge will almost certainly be fulfilled on the Mk6 when it's out of warranty this July. Can't believe I'e had it three years. The Mk2 meanwhile is great too. Feels a bit bunged up though at the moment so a good Italian tune up may be in order. and it gets more comments than the new one!!!

Oak green is a mint colour on the mk2, great example. I wonder if our mk6's will be as clean in 15 years?

If people keep them, then yes. My Mk2 has only had one other owner, he owned it for 19 years. The one I had before that was a bit of a dog that had had 9 owners. The problem with a car like that, is that at some point in its life it will have changed hands for a couple of hundred quid and therefore being treated as disposable.

I like the look of both your cars Ginge and Andy, although would have to change the lights and repeaters back to stock and loose the armour door plates.

Whilst we're pic hoaring, here's my lastest mod. 60/40 split rear seat with factory headrests, fully carpeted boot inc seat backs and retro radio cassette cd combo, with the changer velcro'd to the carpeted rear panel, so no holes needed to be drilled.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Any excuse for some pic whoring...

I know there's not much love for Mk3s in here...but I don't care. My 20th Anniversary Edition 16v...one of 150 RHD cars.

Very nice, Oak Green was always the most desirable colour for the Mk2. Nice to see it looking the way it should be too not some riced up peice of c**p.

I bought my Mk2 because of its general exterior condition but also how well it's stood up inside too (see below). It's in fantastic nick for a 21 year old car

If I keep the Mk6 21 years I'll be gobsmacked if it keeps as well but you never know.

By the way, my first GTi was a 1997 Mk3 so I love that Anniversary. I know they only escape the title of worst ever GTi because of the Mk4 but I still like the look of them. That one in the pictures is gorgeous in my eyes. In fact when I was first looking for an old second car I was looking at Mk3s. I found what I thought was a nice one but it needed too much body work and ended up paying double for my first Mk2, an 8v. I sold that for the 16v in the pictures and have never regretted it.
