Time to change my GTi - maybe a BMW M135i
« on: 25 May 2012, 13:40 »
The lease on my GTi company car expires in 4 months time so I have to change it over. I have come to the following decisions :

1. Another GTi - My Mk6 has been brilliant, I look forward to driving it everyday, only downside is it has left me wanting more. The game has moved on in last 3 years and 210bhp does not really stand out any more  plus Mk7 will be shown in Sept, on sale 2013 ?( Number 3 on list )

2. Ed35 - More Tax, less mpg, perhaps a bit more raw than the standard GTi. Is it just a GTi with the MKV engine, 35 stickers and BlueMotion spoilers ? ( Number 2 on list )

3. GTD - Less Tax, more mpg but far too slow and not special enough, not even on list despite the savings.

4. BMW m135i - Oh god a BMW ! But what a car- 320bhp, RWD, Xenons and Leather std, 5 doors, 0-60 in 4.9 secs for the Auto and 37mpg. It may be the perfect step up from the Mk6. They go into production in July so reach here in September, pefect timing. ( Number 1 on list )

Feel I am committing a sin, I have an appt booked to spec the car next week. Not been into a BMW garage for over 20 years !
Mk6 GTi - returned to leasing company after 3 great years and replaced with :

Mk5 GTi - Edition 30 - Revo 1 and some tweaks - 310 bhp. Its a better car than the Mk6  - Now sold and replaced with :

Mk6 R - Rising Blue 5 Door. Won't be standard 270bhp for long

Family Car : Mercedes ML420 with 360 bhp
Looking at Porsche Macan as replacement

Do you have the option to buy your current GTI seeing as it is such a good car? Surely it would save you a shiit load of money.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Yes I do, just waiting for the leasing company to confirm what they want for it.

I am hoping for about £12k

Even if you remap the GTI it will be no where near as good as the BMW... I would say buy the Gti and mod it... but only if it saved you a considerable sum of money.   :nerd:
