Yep it acts as a one way valve, so should be left in.

I don't have a hockey puck and mine runs fine. You should never be able to get pressure coming back through the TIP anyway. If you do, you have problems lol

Link?

Is it also 19mm tubing?

ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Il post a link up later if you want as im in work lol

The take off's are 15mm but I used a reducer from 19mm to 16mm for the pipes.

The 16mm pipe going to the catch can has been jubileed nice and tight so im not worried.
Im not even going to bother with the catch can to get it 19mm as its much better than the current system anyway.

If you use your intake to evacuate your catch can then you should keep the hockey puck one way valve. Otherwise you will occassionally get pressure coming through to your catch tank and in turn your crankcase.

This is because the hose for the hockey puck on the tip is perpendicular to the angle of the gas flow through the intake tract as opposed to 45 degrees with the direction of flow, consequently what is happening is some of the gas flow through the tip is entering the oil catch tank.

If in doubt hook up a boost gauge capable of reading vacuum to where the hockey puck valve connects to and you will find around town driving it provides vacuum and occasionally pressure. This will have an effect similar to a blocked breather system and will have an adverse effect on the running of the engine.
