Look I don't want to get in an argument here but 'glad his priorities are in check' with laugh/lipsealed smilies is a sarcastic dig at me replacing the bung and not a water pipe.  By the way I didn't come up with the 'subtle' hints about the water pipe that was another poster.  What's with the bold underlined text, I didn't realise I should have come on to report that I have had the pipe looked at, nor have I had the time to, yesterday when I posted looking for advice I just really wanted help to get the car started again.   I m a noobie and am very grateful for the advice from everyone (I myself have made a useful how to about headlining reupholstery) but I don't see the need for patronising comments/taking it easy or otherwise on the new guy.

No one is arguing with you you come here for advice and we give it!
Like I've said I must be a mind reader to know a mechanic has already had a look since you posted that little bit of information today?
Help? advice? I like wasting bandwidth on posts that get no responses? (SARC)
Did you know that metal water pipe feeds most of the head with cooling, even cooling the oil!
Its such an inportant part of the cooling system that if it goes you could do damage or bits of rust is flowing clogging up the water channels in the block!
By the way a mechanic is going to say surface rust because its a pain in the arse to remove it and inspected the full length!

Like most people have said Priorites the metal water pipe looks ropey!

[Like I've said I must be a mind reader to know a mechanic has already had a look since you posted that little bit of information today? chill out on the bold underlined text! Your not a mind reader I presume, but you also jumped to the conclusion that I ignored the responses about the water pipe.
Help? advice? I like wasting bandwidth on posts that get no responses? (SARC)  you need to look into a new Internet provider if you worry about how much bandwidth a few lines of text use up (SARC)

Its such an inportant part of the cooling system that if it goes you could do damage or bits of rust is flowing clogging up the water channels in the block! I am no expert (clearly, that is why I bought this car and visit the site with questions, so I can learn), but I did presume that anything to do with cooling is important.  In honesty, my main priority is that the car is safe to run, any time I hear an unusual noise etc I get it booked in straight away to be safe.  The advice was to get the water pipe looked at, I have, I apologise I did not report back on this issue but I have been very busy.

All we have done is help you? yes you have helped but yes your comment was patronising

Someone is a bit sensitive when it comes to comunicating with others  :lipsrsealed: - this is possible, but someone else appears to be a bit insensitive when it comes to communicating with others :)
Yes the headling is really good, good, good, good job self pat on the back well done! Thats (Patronising) yeah it's bloody brilliant, I look forward to many more overwhelmingly positive comments about how fantastic it is and how I am the saviour of hundreds of sagging mk2 headlining for years to come!

I don't pay the bills on this site
All I was getting at mate is that when someone give you advice water pipe or not it was courteous to respond with simple "thanks guys mechanics looked at it and given it all clear!"
You can see I was a bit narc'ed when you started posting about a green bung that didnt fit, that has proberly been missing for years?

Insensitive meet DH I've gone real easy on you!

Now you're getting it Pedro!

I hear you, fair enough (that bold underlined text is getting bigger by the minute!) All I was getting at is I have not had time to respond to mention the water pipe.  I only mentioned the green bung fitting procedure to paint a picture of what I could possibly have done to prevent the car starting!

The good news is, as suggested by someone on this thread (thanks), by fitting the precious green bung, I had loosened a connection at the starter motor and all is well now.

I will endeaver to be less sensitive if you promise to attend Internet forum induced anger management classes, deal?

Pedro

Yeah I'm really tired, I got up at 6am to play golf at Carnoustie and played like a gentleman's sausage.  Thanks for support, I love it.
