I hear you, fair enough (that bold underlined text is getting bigger by the minute!) All I was getting at is I have not had time to respond to mention the water pipe.  I only mentioned the green bung fitting procedure to paint a picture of what I could possibly have done to prevent the car starting!

The good news is, as suggested by someone on this thread (thanks), by fitting the precious green bung, I had loosened a connection at the starter motor and all is well now.

I will endeaver to be less sensitive if you promise to attend Internet forum induced anger management classes, deal?

Pedro

Your welcome....

Hi all

The Mk2 has been in the garage, and I am planning on getting the water pipe with rust replaced (see pic on page 1). Has anyone any idea if they are available new (vw or elsewhere) and what they cost?

Cheers

Pedro

My old 8v metal water pipe was direct from vw for around 55 pounds. Clipper j is right and its good advice to get it done. Mine took an hour to remove (just the pipe)

It was a fair comment to be honest  dude. I'd be straight on that if it were my mk2 and I think that's the way to look at it

Yeah I am now on the lookout for the replacement. I need to work out the part number(s) and where to get them.  I hope vw still make them but I did a quick search and it would appear people have had trouble.
