cheers guys this is very informative.  I'd be in touch with the insurance company but my misses wont have any of it.  She's not willin to shell out 350 quid excess for the sake of a bumper in the hope of waiting months to get it back from the other persons insurance.  Also she doent want to have to mention to the insurance that she had to make a claim when it comes to renewal.  I'm gutted but what can i say at the end of the day she's the policy holder coz i cant get insured due to using up my no claims on a car that i drove into a flood a couple of years ago evn though it wasn't technically my fault i lost my claims.  Insurance sucks i can't believe its sooo difficult.  Were with elephant by the way.  If it comes to it and the woman who trashed my bumper  who should be back tomorrow doesn't cough up then we will be forced to contact the insurance.  Only problem is they will only renew standard parts so all we will get out of it is a headache and a small bumper which isnt needed.  Nevermind......scrappy it is i think.  The way I'm looking at it is if she gives me anything over a hundred quid then thats a bonus because i should be able to get hold of a big bumper and spray it up well for 50 quid though it would be never as good as a new one.  Thx peeps appreciate your support.  Failing all else someone could find their car trashed, you never know sometimes these things just happen all on their own.

dude..im with admiral whom elephant are a part of and they were proper helpful i have to say...if your missus really doesnt wanna go throu insurance,go throu a no win no fee like i said..if u hav a witness,u got a case rite there..no offence mate but i think ur daft if your gonna shell out like,there is no way i wud..it wasnt ur fault so why pay for anything?a daint get it?!give me a couple o days..may have a rear big bumper for sale anyhoo! thats if you dont find one...

Its your choce wether you go through the insurance company or not. Thats what you pay insurance for. They are responsible so u wont loose your no claims.

 I would get in touch with your insurers and pass on the details of the car that hit you. They should do the rest.

If theyre bein sh!tty about contacting theire insurers its not your problem and theres more of a reason to get their insurance involved, just to piss them off some more! What ever happens, make sure you dont do badly out of it! Its not your fault!

just told the woman its gonna cost her 200 notes cash in my hand by the end of the day or else its insurance time.  She's thinking about it, i said well dont think too long

the police dont wish to know as long as nobody was hurt they dont care.  The woman doesn't want to pay and she was really funny about it when i knocked on her door as if i had inconvenienced her in some way.  I just reported it to the insurance and they are going to ring back tomorrow morning.  I will keep you posted

they do hav to take it further thou if your reporting it..trust me..ive been throu all of this and even if your just get a crime number make sure u do hav it on their records as logged..told you not to do her any favours...shes not gonna pay if she dont have to..make sure you give your insurance the details of the witness as well..
