the misses won't report it to the insurance and its registered in her name. She has been down to the police station and they have said that they dont wish to know about it unless anybody was hurt. She's convinced that her insurance will go up if she notifies them.  Do we have 24hours to contact the insurance company in order to be covered or is that just the police im spittin flames here :undecided:
cant shout at the misses anymore

just demand £200 off of em to be on the safe side, they either pay it or you take it through insurance, i always find a bit of a threat of physical violence helps your case..... i had a farmer back his hilux into my mk4 last year, scratched some paint of me bumper... not alot you might think but enough to really pi55 me off!!, 1st he denied it all saying i backed into him (i was waiting on garage forecourt to move to pump when vacant, this muppet didnt look, reversed into the forecourt from the road and clipped me), fortunately when i got out of the car (erm im not small) he shat his pants... 20 mins of me threatening to do him and alot of bad words (sorry kids) and he admitted it, but he wasnt gonna pay up out of his own pocket... i buffed most off it out my self and you could hardly notice, got a quote from local body shop £180, got the work done and took the bill to his insurers (local as hes a farmer) he had told them about it, they took a few weeks to pay body shop but it was out of my hands so i was pleased in a way....

kicking off always works for me!

Any accident which isn't your fault will not affect your policy or your no claims. Tell them sooner rather than later  :undecided:

cant argue with my misses im afraid her foots gone down lol.  I'd be violent with the person that crashed into my car but its a woman  the misses rang the insurance and they said that it would have to come out of our policy initially 350 quid excess we would have to pay and theyd then bill the other persons insurance and depending on wether or not the other insurance paid up we would lose our no claims or keep them.  Also they said it would most definitely put the insurance up as although its not our fault all claims have to be processed in terms of wether or not youd made a claim your fault or not or something like that.  Plus they said when they do the work, they could only replace small bumpers as they are the manufacturers standard on a 1987 golf.  What a ballache we've just decided to f**k it off and get a bumper from a scrappy, and just pray we get some coin off this woman
oh yeah and good for you dubfather.  Wish i had half the temper i used to have, ive mellowed to much i think

dude...i went into the back of sumone in oct n believe me u need to tell the police just for a crime number..as they walked away from the accident without reporting, thats a crime in its self and if you didn investigate it,you would have been payin for it so dont do that other person any favours by not going throu your insurance..cos your only saving them their no claims..if your missus is worried about her ncb,go throu a no win no fee soliicitor but believe me,you shouldnt be payin for nothing as it wasn your fault..
i feckin hate feckin lyin cheatin b@stids!!

i agree with dinx you only report when someone is hurt or the other person has left the scene without notifying the police or leaving there details but seeing as you know have there details that may be why they wouldnt take the report, also if you insurance is saying that you will pay more then dont go with them next time cause thats taking the pi55 and asking for £350 excess is really taking the piss there are third party companies that will recover costs from accidents that clearly arent your fault i used one many moons ago when a bus reversed into my parked car i never paid a penny and they spoke to the insurance company with 2 days the other insurance had taken my car and given me a courtesy car while they repaired the damage. no marks on your insurance that way and no need to pay out excess.

well it was my fault..even thou there was sum things that he said were total n utter sh!t  (total scrounger just after money) n i haven paid anything..so i dont get where you would have to pay the excess?! even thou most,if not all, policies state you would need to pay the excess in the case of any claim,i assumed that was only the case for a claim against your own car,wen your fault or say your windscreen was broken had u not taken out additional cover..  :undecided:

http://www.accident-compensation-information.co.uk/html/car_accident_compensation_claim.html

i used these people and to be honest the accident was simular i was parked on teh side of the road outside a bus garage, it was night when i left work ironically i worked there too and i didnt notice anything was wrong till next morning when i went to get in and noticed that the rear 1/4 panel was smashed in and the rear wheel buckled dont know how i didnt notice the wheel the night before. i asked about at the garage if anyone had seen anything and some gave the reg of the bus and time it hit it hit the car and said they reported it to the garage manager i contacted my insurance and they said cause i was 3rd party cover id have to wait for settlement and asked me for 3 quotes. i got 1 from fords, 1 from a local garage and one from a mates work who gave me the leaflet with that company on, i gave them a call and solicitor came to my house photographed the car and ran through everything, week later i had insurance accepting liability and wanted the quotes and cost of loss's from rental cars and loss of earning etc. i dont trust these no win no fees after all the stuff in the papers and on tv about them but they did great and recovered there costs direct from the insurers included in my loss's :D

oh the other thing is it can take a while with these people and it can go to court but thats doubtful in your instance as blame is clearly not yours.
