So bit disappointing progress really bit I am making steps in the right direction.

Between me and my mate we've offered up the EPAS corsa b PAS column which looks like it will work with a bit of modifying. So 1 less part in the bay.

We've also been looking into ways to clean the bulk head so we will be making brackets of some sort to hold the heater box in. No nasty threaded studs in my bay.

Also been sorting a few other bits but 1 of the main areas we've focused on is the rain tray. Now some of may have seen or known about my mk2 bay. Well I want it as good as that. Removing the rain tray made that bay all the better. However as some of you know doing this to a mk3 and keeping the wipers isn't a nice looking modification. We've thrown a few ideas about and tried a couple of other options (ax) but really to get the look it want the wiper mechanism and arm will have to be removable. So we will install a single wiper kit, remove the original brackets and make some new 1s so that you can't see anything once it's removed. It will end up just being a plug and few bolts so will be easily removed.

Couple of ideas below (note R32 bay is a mk4 with mk3 subframe)

Also as some of you may have seen I rolle if on its side. If not here's some pics. Wood is not there for me to set it alight lol.

Next up is to finish the partition wall so I can start bare metalling the bay so we can't start welding. ;)

Good day today.

Turned down the opportunity for more overtime to fund the build to actually work on the build instead.

I share a unit with my good friend who has a stunning mk1 and 1 of the problems with the task I have is the amount of crao that's going to come off the mk3.

So 1st thing 1st was to build a partition wall so I can crack on and make as much mess as possible.

Job done.

So finally I can get to work on the car. The first big job of course is to take it back to bare metal. Engine bay 1st so that I can have my mate weld it up.

Pics

So I only got to spend 3 hrs on grinding it back today but made good progress.

Big job when you think I've got to do the whole bay, inner arches and floor.

Still will be worth it in the end

Got a bit more grinding done yesterday and it's coming along well. Can't wait till it's done tho lol.

More importantly I said good bye to the rain tray.

Now this is a bit marmite on the mk3 but I'm obviously all for it. Opens up the bay will make it look cleaner and will make my life easier cleaning around it all.

Now I do have a plan for the wiper so don't think that there will be a big ugly motor and mechanism sitting there.

Got tomorrow off work as we will be heading down to show and glow as we (LowCollective) have a stand inside. Means I will get a good few hours on the car. More soon.

Evening all

Well it's coming on slowly. Just need more time.

Still grinding away n now just got the awkward parts behind the turrets to do and the bay will be ready for welding.

Also started on the inner arches

Finally started buying parts again. 1st up EPAS (electric power assisted steering)

So will get my mate to fit that all up.

I just want the grinding to end. Sadly I've got 3 more arches and the whole floor to do lol.

Another 12hr day up there Thursday :)

Well more grinding yesterday.

Cleaned a bit more of the bay but after being awake for 30 hours yesterday I had enough of cleaning the pain in the ass bits behind the strut towers. So instead flipped it on its side and started on the floor.

You can see in this pic ^^ the pile of crap that's come of the bay!

So with my daughter going to her Nan's Saturday I will get another chance to have a full day on it. Hopefully get a real good amount done on the floor.

Will update 2moro

Cheers

Oh n grinding sucks lol

Well had a couple of half decent days on the car.

Still walking in and seeing this is really starting to tire!!

Decided to start on the inner arches

Before:

After:

Started on the front aswel so only have 1 1/2 inner arches to go and then all the hard to get areas which I will have to do with a scraper and some heat. FML!

She's getting there tho. Will then get my good friends Andy and Ron on some engine bay welding and floor repairs and welding.

1 day it will be done.
