Reminds me of my last golf, makes me want it back!

Certainly looks familiar! Was it a genuine anni then?

Cheap tdi on egay:

Cheers for the head's up, but I'm not looking at anything seriously until around end of May time when I'm more ready to sort out the logistics of a swap (working facilities and insurance etc).

Today's butchery:

^ Apparently I'm ghostly pale these days!

Got the loom nice and threaded through the dash and plugged in, except for the coloured connectors still! Got the red power cable and earth in alright, but still confused about these coloured ones.

Do they connect into these things? I couldn't get them in:

A few of them kickin about above the fusebox but couldn't seem to get them to mate up to the loom side connectors.

Also found this little cluster, perhaps they go directly into here? :

Bit of a bastard getting up there with the massive metal plate spanning the dash!
Loving the hands on experience here!

Thanks.

Got the wiring all in, but now my door speakers don't work! Starting to lose patience and considering binning the lot  , this (the yellow thing) has also mysteriously broken on the passenger side regulator, is it fooked?

Problem after problem....

Mate the second picture shows the correct plug bank you need to connect into, if you remove the warning light and headlight switch from right hand side of steering wheel you should get a better look at whats what. Remove the warning lamp first and theres a little clip on right hand side of the headlight switch which if you push in releases the switch without f*#king the surround etc. Hope this makes some sence to you and helps. Also if your speakers dont work have you double checked youve plugged the connector in the correct place on the car-door plug?

Cheers Bissone yeah I got the connectors into the plug bank, it unclipped or something (or maybe I broke it?  :undecided:)and it dropped down a bit like the fusebox so sorted that part out...I'm pretty sure they're in right but I'll double check tomorrow. But I got an electric window all plugged in aswell and that didn't work either! So a bit at a loss really just gonna have to double check all the wiring, nothing's meant to connect into the back of the head unit from the dash loom or anything is it?

Thats good then, i dont think so as far as i can remember its all seperate, the windows may not work if you have the connectors wrong way around, ill have a look tomoz as i found a useful link wen i stripped my 5dr loom down to a 3dr. It was a wiring diagram and also http://www.a2resource.com/electrical/CE2.html thats a useful site as each of those connector blocks you have plugged you connectors into will have a link cable that comes from the fusebox to feed all the cables plugged in. If you match colour and location it will tell you roughly what it is i.e ignition feed etc. Personally wen i converted my van i went to get some connector blocks from a GTI in a scrap yard as my van was basic speck and it was useful getting a look and some pics of a loom already in a car, may be worth considering?

She's getting on a bit :(

Got an engine cover off a 6n polo to go on, but it needs some kind of brackets which my engine doesn't have, so trying to source these prior to fitting. Not made any more progress on the ongoing electrics upgrades due to sh!t weather.

Hosepipe ban doing my head in aswell, washing it all by hand is a pain.

Here's a random shot.

Definitely agree, but how wide? Not sure how to work it out  :lipsrsealed:

They're 6.5j, 45 offset, back tyres are 215/40's.
