my catch can install (pic heavy)
« on: 19 March 2012, 20:18 »
right just a few pics of the install not as good or as nice looking as some i have seen on here but its getting there slowly
first up got an ebay can and had some stainless 19mm fittings custom made as it only came with 9mm and 15mm and wanted to use all 19mm pipe just want to point out that this is not a how to but feel free to use at your own risk
the new fittings along with ebay jobby

decided to mount at front as it seemed to make the pipe work sits best there

skipped a few bits as didnt take any pics of taking out the old

after 9 days i noticed it was starting to get quite a bit of gunk in there and what appeared to be my can leaking

where the top of the can bolts to the bottom was metal to metal so in my knowledge there was no seal so decided to take apart and use some gasket seal to bond top to the bottom of can and then tighten it back down with the bolts that were in there reason for doing this in first place was i noticed oil seaping through as in the pics

gasket seal on

and fitted back together hopefully there will be no more leaks through the seal not saying this will happen to everyones but my luck is poo and if summat can go wrong then it does for me
all finished and back together

this probably wont help anyone but its just my catch can adventure over the past few days

I have an eBay catch can too and I also dismantled it to apply some clear silicon gasket but I used braided hoses instead, unfortunately those hoses you used aren't intended for use with oil and won't last too long.
So far it's not leaked at all, can't complain given how cheap these catch cans are.
