^^^^ ive seen your thread before on your car and it does seem poor. I think some peoples opinion of Vw is as tho its in the same class as a Rolls Royce or something so when they get one they are dissapointed and quick to knock them when really the only difference in quality is the interior and as said thats questionable as everyone as caught up. In truth Vw has never been that much better than the competition other than rust in the old days. But there's something about it for me that its the best alrounder as said upteen times by many.

I think you two should read my posts, i don't claim Vw to be the best at all far from it.
Don't give a to$$ what so ever any other make of hot hatch does or how its built as i don't keep my cars long or care what anyone else thinks of golfs, I LIKE ALL OF MY GOLFS I HAVE OWNED thats why i bought them, im sure you will vote with your feet next time.

MKviken id just get shut of it if it bothers you that much and that its that bad.

Why do people on here get so defensive and try to prove how fabulous the golf is every time someone dares to say a differ car is good?

Like I said I like my car and appreciate its good points which There are many but I'm not foolish enough to think its something it isn't or a super car in disguise and built like the shuttle.

Do yourself a favour and have a look inside the front and rear wheel wells and tell me the paint isn't peeling. Have a look where the rear numberplate lights are and tell me the whole bumper has paint on it.

Have a look under the bonnet and tell me the inner rails are fully painted the have a look down the side of the car and tell me it isnt orange peel.

Have a look at the rear control arms and tell me they're not rusting.

And how many mk5s are rotten already and the mk6 is made even cheaper.

These things are NOT any better built than the next car.

Great post, I have everyone of your issues.

Hats off to the f1 renault team for developing the car... but in all honesty I would never get one of these. Had a megane as company car for 8months, and whilst I have no gripes about the actual car itself, the electrics and service levels from renault were so poor I swore that moment I would never buy one for fear of feeling the same levels of rage.

Great for a track and reviews by motoring journos, but everytime they had to grab some keys to go home they would opt for the golf.

yes i totally agree - I've said more or less the same on another thread on here

the main problem with renault is the dealer network really are hopeless

the dealer my clio 197 came from burned to the ground last week and all the stock was written off!

i must say though of all the renaultsports I've owned the only failure I've had was a starter motor jammed on and destroyed itself - guess it could happen to any car.

Is the paint peel on the inside of the wheel arch covered under warranty?

Cheers,

Ive had i look at mine out of curiosity today, the engine bay i knew about so i looked at the spray gap when the doors open, i missed it at first but then i could see it from a certain angle. Im no car builder but i think the body is sprayed first then the panels and doors are fixed on and painted with the doors open then shut, so its seems that this is how the missed spray occurs. Ive got a seven year old mk5 also black and that is the same, i also looked at my 15 year old peugeot van which is red and at first it didn't look like it had it so then i wiped away the grime and it was there, not as noticeable but i think thats down to the colour and different door  etc. So it wouldn't surprise me if alot of cars have this if you look for it.
mkivken my rear bumper were the number plate lights are seem fine, but im going to clean the car tommorow and have a good look.
The inner wheel wells, im not sure where you mean. Do you mean behind the plastic covers inside the wheel arches ?
The rust on mk5's id like to know where and ill check that aswell.

Thats disgusting!! Why should your fault be forced on someone else??  i don't see why they would need to paint the whole bumper if it's just inside the wheel arch?? Whip it off and give the inside a blow over. you can only see a couple of inches so not a huge issue, i'm with you on keeping it original though, they shoild fix your problem without involving someone elses car.

About the 4th picture down were the MK6 has that sponge (as shown in that pic) is were the mk5's rust. The arch liner rubs on the edge the lip of the arch and it rusts. Lots of threads about it on the mk5 section.
