You chose the ED35 and ticked the boxes you wanted!

Me Thinks thats the one you want!

Now "grow some" and hold firm soldier!

The Edition35 shares the older engine with the mk5.My mk5 GTI I had since new used a lot of engine oil.I always seemed to be topping it up.For this reason I much prefer the newer unit. The dealers told me it was a characteristic and basically tough.

Stay with the 35 you may regret getting the standard gti where as you won't regret getting the 35.

the GTD are locked and require the ECU to be opened but the GTI can be mapped thru the OBD port no problem. The GTI is defiantly not locked but i don't know about the ed.35

the only reason the diesels are locked is to save the DPF from damage and warranty claims or something.

my mate just had his TDI170 remapped and DPF removed but couldn't use OBD port

Guys, don't want to be shot down here and have a thread of criticism, just thought I'd get some level opinion on a situation:

Currently, have a 35 arriving in the next 2 to 3 weeks - specs as per my signature below

One of the dealers I had been talking to has offered me a standard GTI with the same spec as below, but no cruise control with an addition of dynaudio and ACC. The discount they are offering is v v good and enough to tempt me (they even offered to cover loss of deposit from other dealer).

Now for the bit that will irk some of you: The running costs will be lower with the std GTI, which is always a bonus in London...but will I miss the extra 25bhp? Only other thing is that the standard GTI comes with 17 " standard. I know many of you throw the idea of economy out the window, but it is a issue for all of us in some way or another....lower insurance, tax etc...is it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

Should just add that the original 35 was not a factory order for me, I just picked up someones dropped order.

how much of a discount are we talking?

i wouldn't lose an ed.35 for the sake of ACC and dynaudio unless the GTI was MUCH cheaper.

We re talking a discount of £5k, over a £2k discount on the ed35. My sentiments have been along the lines of Murrayedition35....soon we ll all be sitting in driverless cubes...so its probably worth having sme fun now. Also the GTI lacks cruise control, which was one of my key options (parents live in Scotland...)so a bit of M6, M74 action.

Well that's a good saving and with A remap a gti would be quicker than an ed35 and you will have a pocket full of spare cash.

Other than the engine (which the gti can match with a few tweaks), skirts and bumper it's basically the same car so depends how much you want them over the standard car.
