Top suspension mount adjustments??
« on: 06 March 2012, 03:55 »
when i lift of the top suspension caps theres a bolt and a hexagonal adjustment inside the bolt therad (if that makes any sense) can some one explain this to me please before i go out and spend money on new suspension

would my suspension be the reason why i get a loud knocking noise when i turn left or right?

Sounds like top mounts or wishbone bushes, or both!

That hex "stud" and nut is not for adjustment, it is to hold the strut in position when the weight is off the wheel, it should be tight.

Change the bushes and mounts before buying new suspension pal.

i replaced the drop links, wishbones, and rubber top mounts last month, thats why i thought it might be the suspension,

might jus get local kwick fit to look at it n work out what the problem is

any idea how tight i should make the hex stud?

The hex is to put a 7mm allen key in and use it to hold against whist tightening the top cap down.

Don't know the torque figures off the top of my head but when you tighten down is is fairly slack then tightens up when in position, a hard stop.

Read the lowering spring/top mounts how to.
