very lumpy running when cold gti pirelli
« on: 01 March 2012, 18:58 »
hey guys, im posting this on behalf of my mate who has a mk5 gti pirelli, when the engine is not up to temperate and accelerating under 2k revs its stuttering like its slightly mis-firing and has hardly any power, i experienced it the other day when he took me out in it and its definately not right!!  its not showing any fault codes whatsoever, when the car is up to 90 degrees it basically dissapears, any ideas???

Pcv would do it even when cold...

Have you checked the diverter valve? Diaphragm split..?

I actually got to drive it yesterday and it seems very slow for a pirelli so I really think its the dv now!

Also pull out the maf from the intake and check it isn't blocked or dirty. Can also give a lumpy idle when cold.

HPFP cam follower could be worn depending on mileage too. Doesn't usually give a poor performance though unless completely wrecked.

just an update, well my mate has replaced the dv, all 4 coil packs and plugs, and the pcv with the latest revision and it still does it!  its driving him mad, is mis-fires quite badly on cold start and just gives a slight mis fire under light throttle and feel as if its holding back, but when it gets to 90 degrees it seems to be ok and still no fault codes?!  very confusing

Is this car remapped?
