Offset has far more effect on appearance than width. It needs to be just right.
What's your budget? I'm running a set of these in 19'' and they're really good quality.

Was told 19s are too big and drives like a wardrobe? Guess with 19s you dont need to lower the car/ Dont it look stupid as wheels are massive?

Thought I'd remembered you said that somewhere. Check out this thread for inspiration when you've got a couple of hours spare:

Did you lower the car when they had 19s? or standard if so the ride height looks perfect

At the time of those shots the car was very slightly lowered, not by an expensive coilover set, nor a cheap set of springs. I'd just fitted the wheels in the unit where those photos were taken and had my old Scirocco Interlagos wheels in the boot!
So, if you don't want the expense of fancy suspension kits - just chuck a load of junk in the boot...

Wrong.
19s ride just fine...but the lower the profile of the tyres, the MORE you need the car lowered or it will look stupid, in my opinion.

I can't see why you'd want wider wheels at the rear of a FWD car...especially one that drives well...it'll only kill the handling.
But, each to their own.

8.5" x 18/19 on an offset of around 50 is about the max you will get in there without rubbing...that's using a 225 wide tyre. 235s will go, but it becomes offset critical. 225s aren't exactly stretched on a 8.5" rim...but the rim protector is on no practical use.
More things to consider.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

What's the closest looking wheel to v710s? Am on a budget and want either 18 or 19...read 19s cause horrible ride and affect acceleration but look ace and 18s look lost unless lowering etc

Will be ordering today....budget 600 with tires or close as
