Badge snob driving a VW are you joking, I really can’t see where the snob bit comes from. Some of you have bought into marketing LOL
I have driven VW’s for the best part of 30 years and have yet to suffer a large bill or be stuck from driving.
When the last Honda Civic came out I quite fancied one so took it out for a test drive what shocked me was the road roar inside the cabin it was really loud. I could not live with that.
French cars are always at the bottom for reliability in ‘WHICH’ Then you have the huge deprecation at resale time.
Fords are fine cars just lack that special feeling. I drove a Focus down from the top of Scotland to me it felt cheap, the gear box felt light and insecure.
Liked the new Astra it felt nice but resale value after three years is horrendous.
Audis are well over priced.
BMW and Mercs, I’m put off with rear wheel drive, living in Scotland the roads can be wet and slippery while snow can be a problem in winter.
Ultimately as a middle of the road working class car the golf stay’s tighter for longer. Think how many miles it took your MPG to even out. As a private motorist the Golf is everything I ever need in a car then after three years I get a good price back.
Fully understand those who crave something different and jump from marquee to marquee its all part of the fun of driving. I done it in my younger day’s until I found the right marquee for me. VW
you think the ford gearbox feels light and insecure in comparison to the golf?
the GTI gearshift is a joke - it just flops around all over the place
i drove a neighbours 05 reg polo 1.4 and the gearbox feels identical to the gti. there is absolutely no excuse for it IMO.
don't get me wrong i love the car but things like build fit and finish, the gear change and brakes are 2nd devision at best.
