Remember it won't work unless the oil is warm enough.

Hi everyone, just to let you know that, as the originator of this thread I've changed my username from Ed32Man to Mr_Ed_35 so sorry for any confusion.  Thanks to all the answers to my post.  Edi35, in answer to your question, I only ordered it on Friday and the dealer quoted me around 20-22 weeks so I suppose I'm looking at around the end of June I guess. The spec is in the sig below.

For the next few months I just know I'm going to be like a kid waiting for Christmas to come, especially when you consider the excuse for a car that I have at the moment - a Citroen C1!

Thanks very much.

As above, the "hill hold" function will stop you rolling back on all but the very steepest of gradients.

However, mine does'nt release for about two seconds after releasing the foot brake, even if applying power.

This means a slow getaway on hills at roundabout entries / traffic light etc all the time (although I have learnt to anticipate this a bit now !)

Does everyone find this ?  or should it release straight away when pressing the accelerator ?

Hill hold on mine releases immediately when moving off, with no delay.

mmm ...  two seconds seems about right  :-

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/technology/glossary/hill-hold

I'm just wondering if there's a way of beating that

If I press the accelerator within 2 seconds I get a nasty "graunching / grinding" sound, so I just sit it out now but "feather off" the brake as far as posiible which seems to speed it up slightly.

My previous DSG Golfs did'nt have hill hold and I can't say I'm a fan of it really

There should be no holding or grinding sound. I would get it checked out

Mr ED 35 your car spec looks really good not surprised you are excited, the wait will go quicky as I ordered mine in Sept and could have had it delivered in Jan but wanted to wait in case the weather was bad. It is only the last few weeks that I am getting impatiant. I didn't go mad on the options this time as my current car has a sunroof which I have only used a couple of times. Also went for the RCD510 as I will retro fit the RNS510.

I've driven 3 or 4 DSG cars and the hill hold has deactivated as soon as you hit the gas pedal on all of them - no delay. 2 seconds doesn't sound right..

You are right it will release the brakes once you accelerate but it will hold for a max of 2 seconds once you have released the foot brake and if you don't touch the accelerator.
