my RS clio. very quick and handles brilliant, all ready to go on the track too ;) just wants stripping out

Your price is too high but they are ideal for track cars at the 1 to 1.5k price they fetch nowadays.

average ones do yeah, seen a few in the same condition as mine go for 1.8-2.5K in the past few months

either way, would be good on the track

I wouldn't like turbo on track. Rather have an NA engine that won't suddenly come on boost at the apex.

All down to the set up. There's plenty of good turbo track cars.

I thought the 1.8t was good for no lag?

na will always be better on track in the pure driving sense, but turbo's are cheaper to get big power from. The way I see it is a fwd will struggle with traction so why make things harder by having a torquey non linear power delivery?

pound for pound turbo's are faster, just not as purist I suppose, besides the 1.8t has a dull as ditchwater power delivery

If you want the conventional looks then go for a Golf2.

If you want something cheap, find a Golf3 16V with a good body (good luck!).

Strip it out and cage it.

The red G2 on Pistonheads is a sh*tter.  Alloy cages (especially half cages) are dangerous and should be weighed in.

Strip it of all the sound deadening etc and go through all of the bushes, replacing what's knackered.

Don't do a cage unless you can step up to cage, with harness bars and proper bucket seats, on tubular mounts.  If you do part of that equation you will be reducing safety over what's in there OEM.

Don't put cheap coilovers on it, if it has cheap coilovers on it, replace with good struts (Bilstein) or some proper coilovers.

Turbo motors aren't loved by those who have dedicated track motors not only for the lacklustre power delivery, but also because they have more to go wrong.  Nothing worse than a shonky old turbo motor deciding to blow its oil seals and feed itself the engine's oil supply.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
