Are Cube any good?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/cube-ltd-pro-20-hardtail-mountain-bike-rockshox-reba-shimano-xt-stroker-ryde-/190726210944?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item2c682b0580&_uhb=1#ht_1132wt_1120

Cube are a bit of a new comer but are priced at a premium so that seems a decent price (especially if you offer 400). I would steer clear of Kona's for now, they used to be the premium DH bike but have lost that and since then haven't really picked up with anything. If you want to keep things suuuuper simple you want to be looking at either specialized or giant xc oriented bikes with an asking price of 500 that you can barter down to 400. Hope this helps buddy as it is a complete mine field, dont worry about asking again and again as its the only way.

They've counter offered at £450...

I prefer the Hardrock myself athough it'd have to be the grey one instead of the red version.

Colour aside (im just not a red fan) they're great mid range bikes, I had one about 5 years ago as my commuter / pottering about ride.

Looking forward to getting it.  Bikeradar's review was very flattering of the bike.  Bike is less than a year old, he still has receipts for it, it's just been serviced.

I was unsure about the suspension, but apparently it's better than other forks in the price range.

It’s the only one to get the custom-tuned version of SR Suntour’s XCR fork. Other bikes may theoretically offer more suspension travel, but the 80mm provided here is so well controlled that it gives the bike a major advantage over most of its price rivals when the going gets rough.

If it's not enough in the future I'll throw something better on there.  I think the forks will be fine until I start riding harder trails though.
