http://www.sharemyroutes.com/routes/United-Kingdom/Pentland-Hills-Edinburgh-Scotland/Pentland-Hills-4-reservoir-loop/elevationOSmap.aspxDid this route at the weekend but probs went about 20 miles in the end. Got all the way up the road section at the start and into the hills, changed down and 'SNAP', my deraliur arm had snapped - sucking itself into my rear wheel.
Been my last weekend in edinburgh I wasn't gonna let this ride slip from my hands so drove back into the city and got it sorted within an hour (thanks edinburgh bike co-op)
So back on it and not digging the road section again I did the straight rocky climb up bells hill... got to the top and had to pedal to go downhill on the other side due to INSANE windspeed so turned around and powered it back down in full susser mode
So... back at the split point AGAIN at kirton I headed back up the The Howe and got offroad in a serious way again, headwind through the valley was nuts but no pain no gain. This is the exit to the valley at Hare Hill
Then looped around the castle and two res's at the base of the other side, then a big climb up the downhill section I turned away from earlier and got back into full susser mode for the downhill AGAIN!
