Today I washed the Passat.

There was some water left over, so I moved on to the Golf3.

Observations from running a wash-mitt over it:

The doors on the offside are rotting bottom-up.
The doors on the nearside are not.
The hole in the offside sill is still there.
There are several significant bodies of water under the lacquer on the bonnet and the roof.

None of this affects the economy of the vehicle, no further action is necessary at this point.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

Can't believe that hole is still there!

Depends how much water it's carrying, it could be adding weight!

or maybe it's lighter weight (think how porsche make body panels that bit thinner on special lightweight models, and charge lots more)

Essential Fatty Acids?

God no, both rather heavy and you need a good surface for them to stick.  Something I doubt this car can supply.

Continuing to run it costs very little.  I'm disinclined to spend money on a car I just rattle about in.  Anyone with two small children will know cash can be bloody tight for toys!

Replacement control arms for the Syncro are about to donate new rear control arm bushes to it, I think.  The front end is starting to feel very 'flappy'.  I keep promising it I'll re-bush the front and replace the discs and pads with 256mm vented at least.... and then get it dropped in with -1 degrees of negative camber.  Unfortunately the Syncro just ate one of the spare pair of hubs I had.

Anyone know if the 256mm solid disc set up uses the same hubs as the vented 256mm one?

In other news it's developed an odd fault where the interior light comes on after it's been left a while.  I've resolved this by turning it off from door-actuation.  Anyone knowing why it's doing this and how to stop it happening other than switching it off would be a useful person.
