New front discs and pads on the front tonight.

Outer pads were *just* getting down to the metal, so I'm thinking the timing was just right. 

Obviously, I say 'new' - they're new to this Golf.  Turns out the hubs are the same on the 256mm solids as the 256mm vented and 280mm brakes.  Original carriers from the Corrado along with the discs and pads bolted up, once the pistons had been wound back, probably further than they ever had been.

Bit of surface rust needs scrubbing off the discs and then I'm sure they'll bed in well.... although they're Green Stuff pads.  I recall them being a bit sh*t on the Corrado, so probably won't be much better now.  At least they have less enthusiasm to contain this time.

The only bit that had to be swapped to allow the vented rotors to go on, BTW:



Just has a wider gap for the rotor and that's it.

You need a set of hubs and there's a pair of 280mm carriers with calipers available.

While I haven't welded up the hole in the sill I did give it a birthday tonight and changed the oil, oil filter and air filter.

Average fuel consumption had fallen to about 48MPG, so let's see if this brings it back up around 50MPG again.

Needs new boots before too long as well.

Nearly ticked over 180k too.
