I would also add a Pug 306 1.9 dTurbo to your potential cars for her. Seemed cheap to insure for me when I was a newish driver and were cheap to buy.

A good old mk2, 1.6 driver or 1.8 8v pretty cheap nowadays and strong as hell.

road worthy mk2's are not cheap

When I came to sell mine I only got 800 and that was in great condition.
