New golf gti power issue

Why do they put a gti badge on the 2.0 if its slow  . Does the non turbo  1.8 have gti on the back ,and what bhp is that, 110 

1.8 non-turbo is 125bhp

With regards to your revving when changing gear issue, mine also does this, however it is fitted with a G60/VR6 flywheel/clutch setup. I have read that this can cause the 'over-revving'

The 125bhp 1.8 is nothing to shout about either  but I've just come from a 230bhp vrs and a 150bhp 340 turbo Volvo that weighed as much as a empty crisp packet 

It's enough for our lass tho as it's her car and I only use it now and again until I find another drifter.

I can only imagine how bad the 2.0 gti is as when i got my 1.8t i was gutted  ,the lack of power was gutting compared to the renault 5 or any other turbo car ive had to be fair.The fun factor was zero,i think there more of a nice drive rather than a thrill  i should have got a mondeo

It is and its still like driving a rocking chair.Im that fed up with the drive ive put it up for sale.im at sunny edlo.

I agree. Nice car to drive...comfortable even! But I was hoping for something with a little but more of a kick when I press the throttle! This Golf is perfect for Sunday drivers! Still...much better than my last one anyway and I don't have to keep it forever! Thanks for all your comments so far

I must admit i do love the drive and look of the car its just gutless and too predictable.I keep looking for another pocket rocket for a bit of excitement though.
