New golf gti power issue

Does this just apply to the Mk4 ? If not then there has to be something wrong with it because i have a mk5 gti 2.0 an its anything but slow off the mark Pins my passengers to the seat when required haha

The Mk4 2.0 is n/a yours isn't, yours is a completely different engine and has a turbo bolted on

ah ok well that explains it then, glad i got the mk5 cos i was gonna get the mk4 as i had the TDi an loved it, i would never have known it wasnt that good !!

I must admit i do love the drive and look of the car its just gutless and too predictable.I keep looking for another pocket rocket for a bit of excitement though.

Who mapped yours? Mine is mapped and is far from gutless

Was the best i test drove out of about 30 mk4s but its just not what im used to.

Hello. I hope someone can help me please...

I just bought a 2002 2.0 gti golf. When I'm changing gear or when I rev the engine, it takes a couple of seconds for the revs to drop. I'm new to golfs but this car doesn't seem to have the power I'd expect it to have. Any ideas what I could do? Maybe this is normal?

The over-revving when you schange gear is most likely the camshaft position indicator. Cheap replacement (£15 on ebay) and ten minutes to fit.

don't second guess, get it scanned to see what's been logged

could also be a maf? Clean it out along with the throttle body to find out.
