Bought TT hubs, wishbone and starter for £100 off a local lad who breaks TTs.

Set about the wishbone today cleaning it up ready for paint and Superpro Caster increase bushes.
Cleaned up a TT wishbone today in the garage so can be painted and polybushes with superpro caster increase bushes.

Pre-clean:

After:

And old bushes removed:

Also polished the roof last week....

Also think I might get head ported/polished and built up from JNL racing...  Instead of getting clutch from the US.

Block was painted and a snapped knock sensor bolt removed.

Cleaned block....

painted engine.....

Also got a new set of doors, boot and bonnet from MB Motorsport breaking a golf for £80 delivered so I can paint these new doors instead of the old T reg ones wavier than the ocean and trusting my repairs.   Bonnet had a dent in it after something leant on it and left a dent with it :(

Who can spot the problem here then?

However today Been painting a few bits..

Carrier Pre-cleaning

Cleaned ready for some paint:

Painted in satin black, shall see what they dry like:

Eagle eyed people will spot a painted hub too, thats gone gloss black.

Also painted wishbone.

Also, has anyone got a k03 turbo and manifold.....had a small change of plans at the minute

In need of a update!

Cleaned block and put headstuds in to make it look pretty.

Went to pick up a turbo and manifold today for £50 (supposedly a k03)......Almost couldnt keep my expressions in when I saw the turbine wheel...

no cracks on first inspections either so all good there too!

Ordered fidanza 240mm flywheel and 5 paddle clutch.....£250 off a mate stripping his 4wd golf.
Got a quattro oil return and new genuine knock sensor for £15 off a lad on facebook group.  Need a 4wd one as transfer box in the way :(
Ordered ACL race series bearings  £110
Picked up a second 30mm TT wishbone.  These are RARE as hens teeth so now I have a matching pair :D

Cleaned turbo:

Have to admit, one of the best looking K03s i have seen.  NO cracks or signs of wear any where.  Actuator still nice and strong, however this will be replaced with a 14lb actuator from Beach Buggy turbos.

Won a superpro power steering bush for £7 off the bay.

And fitted to freshly painted rack. (needs track ends but they stuck :( )

G101'd the upper half of the box.  Wirebrushed the surface to make smooth.

Dried out with blowtorch.

Painted high silver and selector gloss black:

And starter ready for same treatment:

So hopefully, when I get all these bearings in can drop the crank in and finally get the engine sat in place. :)

ACL race bearings turned up....Just waiting for the thrust washers.

FIdanza flywheel and paddle clutch arrived this morning.

Been playing with wiring last few days.   Drivers side engine bay loom is now hidden, and re-routed inside the car and through a grommet above steering column, then down the inner chassis leg.

Headlight loom routed through inner chassis leg.  Grommet to protect against chaffing.

This is my new loom for wiper motor, alarm siren and indicator.

There was originally the brake fluid warning, coolant warning, bonnet warning, and probably some other plugs removed.  Those will be dealt with in the car.  So 2 simple looms, headlight and wipers and indicator.

I could have spend about 3 days unpinning the plugs and putting them back on, but easier to cut and solder wires.

Everything was wrapped in cloth tape.

Engine wise, had a issue with the main studs being too short.  CTS turbo clearly supplied the wrong ones (did the same with my mate aswell), emailled and no reply so going to give out some bad press for them in time....however, lucky enough to have a mate building a 058 motor what they were for so sold them and bought some 06A ones from alex @ AKS tuning.

Question:  Does anyone know the brake pipe size from master cylinder to ABS pump?  The pipe looks same as 3/16th copper pipe I have in terms of internal diameter, but a bigger M12 union and different flare??? Can I flare with a 3/8th flare on M12 union???

Well, crank and pistons made their way home today.. (05/05/2013)

Thrust washers trial fitted:

Caps on and ARP fastener lube applied

]

Crank all bolted up to 65lbft torque with ARP main studs

And pistons in torqued up 3 times to 50lbft.   Clearance 0.038mm with plastigauge.

Oil cooler turned up this morning (10/05/2013) ....Just needs a clean and buy a thermostatic inline valve to let things get up to temp before going round cooler.

Now just need to find somewhere to mount it.   at 50cm long x 5cm high x 3cm deep

Wellycooler arrived last week.

Superpro bushes finally turned up so set about chucking them in too.,
Superpro Caster increase bushes arrived this afternoon.  Cracked straight on fitting them.

Pushed the new bushes in :D  Setting the caster correct.

Front bush pushed in:

First one complete:

Old vs new.  Note the fitment location of the bolt hole.

All complete:

Also managed to pick some FULL FIS clocks up (diesel) which will be converted to petrol

Had a bit play, got the SKC and bit play with the needles etc.

Also to arrive Genuine Crank sensor for £15
AEB large port head - £50

Order a shed load of parts to continue building engine up.
Picked a few things up from VW.

Oil cooler now sits nicely :D

Ready for oil filter :D

Oil pump installed today, and billet idler :D

Picked up timing gear from a mate aswell so can get the other crank gasket on when I buy some sealer.  Overlooked that part lol.

AEB head arrived today aswell for £50, stripped down ready to go off and get tested at local machinist
