By the time you are my age £4500 will be cheap for a 17 year old :lipsrsealed:
I paid £700 to insure my first car which was an Escort 1.1 it then dropped to its lowest at £300 two years ago on a 2.0 golf.
On the same car its now going up to £800 with no accidents or claims
I think most teenagers will be on the bus or mums taxi well into their twenties soon, as insurance costs spiral ever skywards

Save up and buy a house, abouth the only thing worth buying these days.....

I guess from the insurer's point of view you are most likely to break yourself on a bike, rather than any other vehicles.

A few things quicker than a mk4 1.4:

Walking
Crawling
Snails

You get the idea...

The mk4 is a lardy car and the 1.4 is a gutless engine. I've got a 1.8T which when in standard 150bhp form was fairly dull, also the standard handling is pretty woeful so I'd hate to feel a non-gti.

I'd have a Ford Ka for a bit of fun, cheap motoring. A nippy 1.3 engine, cheap tax & insurance, good on fuel and a hoot on backroads
