VW Sharan and Vag Tacho
« on: 25 October 2011, 18:55 »
A mate of mine has a 2001 Sharan and he'd like a key programmed. I've vag tacho 3.01 which on his car comes up with a fault to ground. On my car it works out ok. Could this be that the Sharan needs vag tacho 2.5

Cheers.

Edit, he's damaged the immob chip in the key, I'm guess that this will prevent us from getting a connection to his immobiliser in the first place?

You should be able to connect to the clocks without a working key. Can it see the clocks? It may be something to do with the ford similarities.   :undecided: can't say I've tried it on these.

100% German engineering (actually Spanish as they were assembled there) on the Sharan. The only Ford things were on the Galaxy's were the 2.3L engines, related hardware for the 2.3L and the badges oh and the clocks for the 2.3, and the extra storage on top of the dash and heated front screens. That's about it.
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Because the immob chip in the key was damaged access was blocked, so the main chip in the clocks was taken out by a mobile tech/key company, chip placed on a test board and read for the code, then put back in and new keys coded.

You should still be able to get pin from clocks without a working key. I've done it many times with a blank.

But you would have had a working key in the barrel to wake up the immobiliser. We didn't have ANY key.

You mean, you couldn't even turn on the ignition?
