You should still be able to get pin from clocks without a working key. I've done it many times with a blank.

But you would have had a working key in the barrel to wake up the immobiliser. We didn't have ANY key.

You mean, you couldn't even turn on the ignition?

Start was always blocked by the immobiliser as the chip in the key was damaged. The immob wouldn't let us in.

You can still get in with a blocked immo (unmatched key), unless the system is like a mk3 golf, where you need a working key to read the pin.
