I think the 18s are ET45
Monzas, Monza IIs and Monza Shadows are ET51, 7.5 inches wide and can easily take 10 or even 12mm spacers on the back axle for a purely aesthetic improvement.

Forgive my ignorance again but could someone give me an idiot's guide to alloy wheels please? I want to ultimately change my Monzas but I don't understand all this talk about offset, 7.5 inch, 8 inch etc. I understand the basics re tyre width (235 and so on) and wheel size (18/19 and so on) but don't get this offset bit at all. I just assumed I could swap my Monzas for any other 18 inch wheel, or even 19 inch wheel for that matter but obviously I can't.
Many thanks
It's not overly complicated to work out what wheels will fit. If you're not sure then just post up on the forum and someone will tell you.
I'm far from an expert on the subject but I had (including the original wheels) seven sets of wheels on my last mk6 alone so am quite familiar with what fits. Styling is very subjective and personal so I won't comment too much there, but any questions you have just fire away.
I'd had my current car less than a week before the wheels were swapped over!
