not holding boost 1st or 2nd????
« on: 08 October 2011, 21:41 »
I have had a stage 1 R-Tech remap before fitting my FMIC.
I have got a boost gauge fitted and I am 80% positive it used to hold 14psi through all gears before fitting the FMIC.
But now Ive fitted the intercooler I have noticed only 1st and 2nd will spike to 14PSI then drop slowly to 10ish but 3rd, 4th and 5th its holding 14.
Is this right or am I going loopy? It doesnt seem any faster or slower its just something bugging me atm.
1.6-1.8t AGU K03s, Forge actuator, Forge 007p, turbo back exhuast, Ths front mount, Catch can, 5 piece silicone boost pipes and creation sports tip. Stage 2 atm 232bhp 270lbs. Waiting for custom mapping :-)

It sounds about right for 1st/2nd gear as there is very little loading on the engine, try it up a very steep hill in 2nd and you will find it will hold boost better.  For a spec1 remap it should be peaking a little higher closer to 18psi then tail off the 14psi on the higher gears? You could have a weak actuator?

Thank god for that  I will check the higher gears tomorrow and im sure I will find a nice hill to climb in sunny south wales haha.

Ohh yeah Nick I found out why my car was only boosting 4psi a week after your remap, The crank shaft sensor failed. I had it checked on vagcom bought a genuine one from VW and the little beast woke up again

James2 I havent noticed any lag mate if im honest.
