it is a good car.. and probably a little better put together than the GTI possibly. They have been known to eat turbos though and a friend that had one, had constant trouble with it from new. As it gave poor economy we both agreed that the R32 was a better option.... but he had family that worked for ford so didnt lose too much
Not true by any means. I had a 5 door ST for 3 months on loan and it was horrid.
horrid suggests it was not to your taste. anyone that has owned or recently run a ford focus will tell you that they are very well put together. reliability of engines/turbos could be questioned... but very rarely hear of build quality issues.
Horrid =Dashboard was not centrally aligned, all doors, bonnet and bumpers mis-aligned, wind noise/rustle from all doors, boot would not shut first time round, squeaks and rattles from trim and seats, FM radio kept losing stations and full of interference, sat nav kept mis-directing, roof trim loose, driver's seat could not be lowered enough so one sat 'on it' rather than 'in it', brakes seized up, heated seats suffered from burnt elements, squeaky front wipers, terrible economy, noisy fuel pump, rear light bulbs kept blowing and it goes on and on.However, I have a feeling that the above would not be considered 'horrid' in your very considered and highly informed opinion.
I presume that as the engine did not blow up after 3 months should be considerd to be a saving grace and miraculously turns the ST into a well-made car.
FORD =
