Mk6 Golf GTI Wind noise
« on: 06 September 2011, 21:33 »
Hey all,

Have noticed that my 10 plate 3dr GTI is producing a fair bit of wind noise from the driver side door. It sounds like a window isn't fully up, and is worse when the bodywork is wet. On a private track, at 130+, the passenger side then became very noticeable and again, it sounded like a window was down a little. Naturally I've checked and they weren't :D

I've given the seals a visual and they all look to be fine, but was wondering if anyone knew if this was a common issue with the GTI or if it deserves a trip back to the dealership.

Cheers,
Graham

It is a common problem.... i have had it in my GTI, and seemed to be similar to a polo courtesy car i had also.

Ive read about a TPS on an American forum for this issue so your dealer if there any good should be able to find it on there TPI list.

Yeah it is on there. Mentioned it to my dealer when getting my car serviced and they know it's a common fault with the rubber seals. 6 months later and I still have the old ones in!

You both have extra thick seals to keep the noise out!

Mines as quiet as a mouse apart from the baby seat rattling about in the back but the stereo takes care of that
