I've also noticed this in my GTD from the driver's door. Likewise, I sometimes find myself checking if the window is fully closed! I only really notice it occasionally, at motorway speeds.

Hey all,

Have noticed that my 10 plate 3dr GTI is producing a fair bit of wind noise from the driver side door. It sounds like a window isn't fully up, and is worse when the bodywork is wet. On a private track, at 130+, the passenger side then became very noticeable and again, it sounded like a window was down a little. Naturally I've checked and they weren't :D

I've given the seals a visual and they all look to be fine, but was wondering if anyone knew if this was a common issue with the GTI or if it deserves a trip back to the dealership.

Cheers,
Graham

Should be intresating the dealers taking the car up to 130+     or lets see what they say ?

LOL! I don't often visit that private track, so that sort of speed isn't common place. I suspect the issue with the drivers door will be the same with the passenger, so they only need to take it about 40mph +.

I had a 10 plate 1.4 GT TSI and it was absolutely silent, so not sure if it's specific to the GTI/D's?

Ive read about a TPS on an American forum for this issue so your dealer if there any good should be able to find it on there TPI list.

Yeah it is on there. Mentioned it to my dealer when getting my car serviced and they know it's a common fault with the rubber seals. 6 months later and I still have the old ones in!

Are they willing to replace the seals? I find it a bit unacceptable TBH from a car that cost twice what I paid for a Focus ST 3 years ago, and it was absolutely silent all the way to a GPS verified, autobahn testing, 161mph (very heavily tuned).

Better handling than the GTI??? Lol come on! GTI consistantly wins awards for the best all round hot hatch. ST engine is terrible too, typical Fords!

Please make up your mind.

Every Ford Focus I have driven rattles. Their looks are not very appealing either, inside or outside. The ST and RS versions are just plain vulgar.

My Mk6 Golf GTI has little or no wind noise (depending on speed), no rattles, no squeaks and rides and handles like a dream come true.

Might I humbly suggest you go and buy a Ford ASAP.
