Is putting a K&N airfilter (57i) on my 8v a waste of time and money...thoughts please?

on the uspide I dont think the airfilter had ever been changed cleaned....(95,000 miles).

apart from sounding good  is there much benefit?

Just agreeing with Trog, but thought I'd add that a less restrictive panel filter such as K&N or pipercross etc. Although they are still well overpriced.

I was thinking about doing this. I guess to smooth the box out you have to break the fins off with a pair of plyiers?

Easiest way is to break the fins off and use a mini-dremel to smooth them down

I have not bothered on mine but was told it helps in a little way.

smoothed and drilled box wont do fack all either apart from let dust and moisture in, nor will a expensive panel filter
