Cheep, cheep, squeek squeek
« on: 03 September 2011, 22:11 »
...coming from pulley area. Things I have done:- checked tension of pulley belt(newish belt)
                                                                  removed it altogether briefly(noise gone)
                                                                  checked routing also
                                                                  replaced water pump
                                                                  replaced cambelt
The noise is really bad but gets better after about 15 mins driveing and dissappears on tick over. Any help would be really appreciated.

No the aux drive belt tensioner, you mentioned that the belt was briefly removed and the noise was gone,if that dont work ,spray a bit on the belt its self and in the pullley groove it wont do any harm and may help isolate where the sqeak is coming from, maybe try another belt, other things are water pump , alternator,PAS pump.

Mmmm strange one,the noise definatly went when the aux belt was removed? did you change the cam belt and tensioner because of the noise, check the plastic cover is not fouling the belt,i know you have probably done this but just trying to work it out :undecided:.Have you got an aircon pump?

Cheers for all your replies guys. Problem solved. I checked the alternator first time round by simply removing the belt and spinning its pulley. No noise. Anyhow, investigated again yesterday and spun the alternator pulley by hand again but this time in the correct direction  and hey ho there was the noise. Weird how it only makes this noise when spun in only one direction?
