I've seen several bearings that have needed several tonnes of pressure to release, there was no way a hammer and socket would of done it.
Its a bad idea generally when fitting new ones, as damage can occur.
Take the hub off, and take it to a garage if you haven't go a press or a large vice.

I use the good old hammer and socket method, done Volvo's, ford's, fiat's and vw's all this way, not one issue yet and the Volvo has just done 35k since I done them both

can you do a little how to for me, gonna give it a bash  :smiley:

i would but i'm not in the north east any more, why not get THESE to do it for you? he's a bloody good bloke and knows what he's doing also

Much easier with a press.

Depends how friendly you are with the garage, if you take the hub in it shouldn't be too much.
You can get a budget press off ebay for 100 quid, i've got one, and it hasn't failed me yet.

I'm gonna buy one of them right away.The bolt through wife's neck has seized again and it's a bugger to get it out with a Dremel. :laugh:
