Anyone got the time - ing?
« on: 26 July 2011, 18:07 »
Ok so fitted my cambelt today, all seemed to go fine and did seem pretty easy tbh, but cant help feeling a bit anxious as the whether its timed correctly. Cam, crank, intermediate pulley, and dizzy lined up, and checked again after turning it over by hand a couple of times. A few people have suggested using the flywheel mark, but my gearbox isnt on atm so didnt bother with that. Have I fecked up by not using that? Also if its a tooth or 2 out, will I be in the sh!te, or will it go into safe mode? And how can it be half a tooth out?
Cheers fellas!

should be fine if you can crank it by hand without hearing or feeling it go tight then your safe if your a tooth out it will definately be in safe mode and wont rev over 5k most likely in that case its the dizzie timing

dont hold me to this but i read some were that people had problems with the timing being 1 tooth out and there car would stall wen they came to a stop, this should surely mean that being 1 tooth out isnt goin to kill the engine???

Cheers team! as said, engine is out of the car still so will find out when it goes in, in a couple of weeks but fingers crossed. I can handle safe mode, and stalling, but not a rod through the block after everything I have done up til now!
