Car gone for remap! + Problems start
« on: 12 July 2011, 20:12 »
Well i dropped the car off at AMD at 1pm. Started driving home and got a call from AMD They said they can’t map my car because there is already a map on the car!!  (at this time i was going mad at them for being dum)   I turned around and went back to AMD, They said i need to go back to the person that mapped the car to get it removed and put back to standard!!

I called a few mapping friends, they just said tell them to bench the ecu and flash it back to standard.  Went back into AMD and had a heated convo and they eventually said they will call the people that mapped my car and ask them to send over my old map file (don’t get this bit as you should be able to use any GTI map).
They got the file and agreeded to map my car!

I got out of there at 430pm!!! I hope this map is good or i will go bonkers!
I have never known a company that can’t remove an old map file from a car!

I will add the graph here when i get the car back, if they don’t blow it up.

You can't strictly use ANY GTI map as there were various software and hardware revisions so its best that you have the original file pulled from your car  :nerd:  It ensures that nothing goes astray..........

As long as the hardware number and sw number matches then every map is identical, it's only the EEPROM which is unique to each car and only a handful of tuners actually patch the EEPROM during s mapping session.

They said the last tuner had disabled the checksum if that makes sense?  so it could not be mapped??  so they needed that file?

No checksumm and the engine won't start the fans will be running constant, you can run the ecu in development mod with out the checksumm but with dash lights and fault codes constant. There is a login area which can have a seed key change, but they would need to develope there own obd2 tools to log in with differing seed keys via the obd port, revo and apr change the seed keys as they produce there own tools.

There revo sps dealer tool should have but the ecu Back to factory stock with ease.

How is the car going?

They said to give them a call tomorrow, so i can find out what is going on.

They have got my original file from angel tuning, so the plan was to bench my ecu and install my stock file so they can then map the car via the odb port.

They said they can’t flash the ecu via the odb due to the checksum being disabled

I don’t really get what is going on

shut up tech1889
