Martin: All is well, as my Silver CKs will be ET 50.  :nerd:
ET will be 49 actually! :nerd:
And it's not BBS that machine them.
Is it just me, or is the thought of machining 5mm off a mounting hub sitting slightly oddly with anyone else?
Is there enough metal to allow it?
Personally, I wouldn't run machined wheels...I'd just buy the wheels that fit properly first time, and know you haven't messed with the manufacturers design.
I was told it is a 2 week wait from BBS to get wheels 'machined' by THEM for the change in ET.
Anyway, that's for mid Sept before the wheels are delivered. I'll certainly consider what you have alerted me to.
You were incorrectly informed. It's the place where you are buying your alloy's from that will send them out to get them machined.
Also the max that can get machined is 5mm.
All i bit ANAL if you ask me but there again you like a bit of bum(so i've heard!)
Have a nice evening!

If I did, it certainly would not be your fat ugly arse.

Oh, I forgot ...

My fear is that a mounting face has a steel seat (usually) with a set depth below it to allow the use of standard length wheel bolts...if you machine off 5mm from the face, does the bolt extend through the hub far enough to impact on the ABS ring?

There are also issues of bolt torque as the given torque is based on a set clamping length...if you remove 5mm, you shorten this by 5mm and spread the torque over a 5mm shorter distance...does this impact on the bolts elastic limit?
Probably not...but it just seems odd.

I know for a fact that an ET35 CH is a different forging/casting to a ET50 CH...so I find it hard to believe it's all in the machining.

Bear in mind too that they'll be taper seat wheels, not radius seat, so you will ned the matching bolts from BBS, and your locking wheel bolts will not fit....and you'll need to keep 5 of the standard bolts in the boot in case you ever need your spare!
You maybe knew all this...just pointing it out in case.

sounds like more hassel than its worth for a set that are likely to slide sideways into a kerb  :lipsrsealed:

Did not know all of it or even half of it!
I was about to PM you and ask about the bolts that would be needed if I had the wheels machined. Your post is most welcome.
It would seem best I leave things alone. I must ask them about the bolt supply from BBS tomorrow.
Thanks a million.

You should get a BBS fitting kit with them, 20 x bolts and 4 x spigot rings if required...the bolts will be the correct 60 degree taper seat type (no lockin wheel bolts from BBC though)...but will they be the correct length if 5mm is machined off the face? I don't know.
